Support from Chippenham Borough Lands

Support for Local Residents – Individual Grants

Our charity provides targeted funding support for Chippenham residents facing financial hardship. As a place-based grant funder, we focus on local individuals and families living in the Chippenham Parish only and those who have been residents for more than six months*.

Our grants are designed for people receiving means tested benefits or those on low incomes. This means single people earning less than £16,000 annually, or families with incomes up to £30,000 and savings under £5,000. Our grants provide practical assistance across a wide range of needs:

Food Support - We provide food vouchers through the Evouchers scheme, offering relief for individuals and families struggling to put food on the table.

Fuel and Utility Assistance - Understanding the continuing challenges of energy costs, we offer grants to help with fuel bills, prepayment meter top-ups, and emergency utility support. We have a structured energy voucher programme to support residents with fuel costs.

Essential Household Items - We can help replace critical white goods like fridges and washing machines, provide furniture e.g. beds, and supply mobility aids. These grants ensure residents can maintain basic living standards and independence.

Additional Support Areas - Our assistance extends to bankruptcy fees, funeral costs, helping with educational resources, course fees (up to Level 3), and travel expenses that enable training or job opportunities.

We Are Not Emergency Crisis Support. While we aim to provide meaningful assistance, our individual grants programme is not designed as an immediate crisis intervention service. We cannot provide instant emergency support for urgent situations requiring immediate financial relief.

How to apply

The application process is straightforward. Residents can check their eligibility and if eligible go straight on to complete an online application or have an agency apply on their behalf through our website - https://www.cblc.org.uk/grants-for-individuals/. We accept applications for our Grants for Individuals programme all year round.

We also offer in-person support with applications at our drop-in sessions: Wednesdays from 10am-2pm at Chippenham Community Hub on Timber Street or the last Tuesday of every month from 10-11.30am at Chippenham Food Bank, The Salvation Army, Foghamshire.

Please note: We cannot assist with already paid costs, flooring, property upgrades, or dental work.

*A map of the Chippenham Parish is available on our website. We also can support applicants with exceptional circumstances e.g. victims of DV moving into Chippenham

Grants for Organisations

CBLC also provides grant funding to charities, community groups, and not-for-profit organisations delivering impactful work in the Chippenham Parish.

We accept funding requests for core, capital, project, and event costs, spanning a single year, multi-year, or one-off event/project. Groups/organisations can apply to CBLC for up to £10,000 per year. This is not restricted to number of applications and if the total in a year does not exceed £10,000, organisations can apply more than once in a financial year.

We operate a grant round system with three application deadlines each financial year: 1 June 2025, 1 September 2025, and 1 February 2026. Organisations can check their eligibility and if eligible go straight on to complete an online application through our website - www.cblc.org.uk/grants-for-organisations.
